Male pattern hair loss
Recession and crown thinning, treated as the medical issue it is.
What's going on
Male pattern loss is hormonal and genetic: follicles miniaturise under the influence of DHT, gradually and then noticeably. It is the most common thing men ask us about, and the most poorly served by the product industry.
The key fact is timing: treatments preserve and thicken best where follicles still live. Earlier is genuinely better — which is why the assessment matters more than any product.
Why it happens
- Genetic sensitivity to DHT
- Age — progressive without treatment
- Family pattern is a strong guide
- Sometimes compounded by health or medication factors
What can realistically be done
Doctor-led diagnosis
Confirm it is pattern loss and not something else — thyroid, iron, autoimmune — before treating.
Prescription therapy
Where appropriate, prescribed and monitored properly — priced in consultation.
Regenerative scalp treatment
Supports follicle health, delivered as a course by a doctor.
Surgical planning
Where transplantation is genuinely worth considering, planned by Dr Truong.
What can't
Treatment maintains and thickens; it does not regrow a bare scalp. Products alone rarely change the trajectory. And stopping treatment means losing ground — we tell you that before you start.
What a first visit involves
Thirty to forty-five minutes with a doctor or nurse: your history, an assessment, and an honest plan with costs in writing. No treatment at a first visit. What to expect
