Redness and rosacea
Flushing, visible capillaries, skin that flares.
What's going on
Rosacea is a medical condition of flushing and inflammation; visible capillaries are its mechanical footprint. Coastal sun, wind and red wine are the classic local triggers — no judgement on the last one.
The condition is managed, not cured: medical control of the inflammation, laser for the vessels, and honest guidance about triggers. Done well, most patients keep it quiet long-term.
Why it happens
- Genetic tendency and skin type
- Sun, wind and temperature change
- Alcohol, spice and heat as triggers
- Age — vessels become more visible
What can realistically be done
Medical management
Dr Shahid confirms the diagnosis and prescribes where indicated.
Laser for vessels and redness
Well-established, best done through winter, usually a course.
Barrier-supporting skin care
The right basics reduce flares between treatments.
What can't
Rosacea relapses without maintenance — that is the nature of it, not a failure of treatment. Anyone promising a permanent cure is overselling.
What a first visit involves
Thirty to forty-five minutes with a doctor or nurse: your history, an assessment, and an honest plan with costs in writing. No treatment at a first visit. What to expect
